Windows 7 Mirror "Resynching" for days and days
I am using Windows 7 Ultimate and have my primary system partition mirrored on to a second drive using Disk Manager (software raid 1) They have been working fine for over a year. Then my machine started being really slow, and I noticed the drives were pegged out. Looking in Disk Manager it shows the Mirrors as "Resynching" but they have been doing that for almost a week. It won't let me break the Mirror in Disk Manager because they are in the resyncing state, and the offline menu is greyed out so I can't offline one of the drives to force a resync failure. Not sure the next step here, clearly the mirror is having a problem despite them both being online and "resyncing". I ran a disk check but it is reporting fine also. Whats the best next step, should I power off one of the drive to force the mirror to break? Resource manager shows that both drives appear to be reading and writing just fine, it just seems the resync is caught in a loop somewhere. How do I get back to a good state with the lowest risk :-) Slight update -- Resynching now says 20% Resynching, so maybe it is finally making some progress to complete the resynch. Final Update -- OK, it looks like when I ReActivated the drives in Disk Manager (note they didn't show offline in Disk Manager, but ReActivate was available in the context menu) that seems to have done the trick, volumn finished resynching over night and performance is back to normal.
